Palm Sunday, blessed commencement of Holy Week, witnessed the Dedication of our Priory, Chapel, and the St. Vincent Ferrer Columbarium. Richmond Bishop Francis Di Lorenzo presided. Our prestigious guests and visitors included Very Reverend Brian Mulcahy, OP, Provincial of the Province and Pastor Emeritus of St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Bishop Di Lorenzo prayed before a crowd of friends and supporters, who braved the cold and somewhat forbidding weather, and blessed the building, the crypt, and the chapel. In spite of dire weather predictions, many parishioners were on hand for the ceremony. It turned out to be a beautiful day!
We were also happily joined by a number of visiting friars from through the province, several of the Novices from Cincinnati, and Marianne Jablonski, President of the Lay Fraternities of St. Dominic in the Province.
The Dedication of the new Priory also marks the beginning of the St. Thomas Aquinas Parish Jubilee year. We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve the University community in Charlottesville and in the surrounding region. The Priory demonstrates clearly and uniquely the vibrancy of the Catholic Faith in the region. We are continually thankful for this opportunity to serve such a wonderful flock!
