Dominican Friars of Charlottesville: First priory to be built

As they begin the public phase of a major fundraising campaign to establish a priory in Charlottesville, the Dominican Friars of St. Thomas Aquinas are reaffirming their commitment to the University of Virginia and, in a sense, the diocesan Church.

Father Luke Clark O.P., pastor of St. Thomas Aquinas, says that the Dominicans who are also known as the Order of Preachers (hence the initials O.P. normally follow the names of Dominican clergy) are enjoying a surge in vocations and a priory in Charlottesville will provide a place for at least six of them to live.

“A priory will not only help us in our own religious life, but it will assist the local church and its needs,” Father Luke said.
