Mortgage Burning Held

Dear Parishioners and Friends,

I have wonderful news to share with all of you. We have paid off the mortgage on the parish center! In the months of November and December you donated over $50,000.00. This brought the total owed down to $188,455.07. In consultation with the parish finance council it was decided to pay off the rest of the debt with parish savings. Over the past year the Parish Finance Council has been looking for ways to get a better yield on our savings. After diligent study into the matter it was determined the best path to take would be to pay off debt. This will save us $12,000.00 a year in interest which comes out of our operational budget. We will still have over $160,000.00 in savings which will serve as a nice cushion in case something comes up.

Thanks to all of you who have helped pay off the debt. Because of your generous contributions to the initial parish center campaign, our monthly second collections and your end of the year donations we have been able to pay off the debt relatively quickly. This parish center has enabled so much growth in our community. Thank you!

God Bless,

Fr Luke, OP

Parishioners gathered in the courtyard after each mass the weekend of January 9-10 to celebrate the elimination of the parish mortgage debt.  Fr. Luke led the group in prayers of Thanksgiving and praise for the tremendous financial and spiritual resources in our community.  He commented that, “on a Tuesday night, six or seven groups might be meeting at the parish and this could not have taken place years ago before we had this facility.”

Today, on any given night you can witness the Spirit in action as people study the faith, raise their voices in song, and plan community outreach efforts.  We are so blessed!
